Adele had survived an unpleasant, abusive marriage. She had found the courage to leave her husband and make a life for herself and young son. As her friendship with Lucas grew, she found that he was a strong, gentle man with a wonderful sense of humor. These were all attributes sadly lacking in her former husband.

When she, herself, was stalked, she discovered that it was her friendship with Luc that precipitated it.
