Recenzii

Denton Chikura's fast and furious debut play wittily satirises western stereotypes of Africa . . . A delight from start to finish
A miniature epic and at the same time an outrageous romp ... riotous and sometimes risky business ... boisterous to the point of being anarchic, yet it offers trenchant remarks along the way - to do with the tropes of theatre, actorly behaviour and European clichés about African life ... an impish summer pantomime ... noisy, silly and undeniably great fun.
Original and ambitious debut play ... a patchwork quilt made up of fragments from high and popular culture, Greek and African mythology, political references and theatrical in-jokes. It deftly switches between making fun of the characters ... and pointing at the patronising expectations of African theatre ... a play for people who love theatre ... The Epic Adventure of Nhamo has a lot to say about storytelling ... high-brow theatre that is universally entertaining - a Shakespearean feat. Interesting, challenging and absolutely hilarious. A total joy.
Chikura's hilariously mad show ... blending a distinct sense of the pantomime ... with a heap of references from modern British, African and American culture ... the humour in Chikura's script is wonderfully sharp ... frolicking, mirth-filled
