The Heart of a Goof

Autor P. G. Wodehouse
en Limba Engleză Paperback – 16 mai 2023
"A brilliantly funny writer--perhaps the most consistently funny the English language has yet produced." -- The Times (London) Tee up for a humorous tour around P. G. Wodehouse's golf course in this hilarious anthology of nine short golf stories. Wodehouse, the author of the delightfully whimsical tales of hapless aristocrat Bertie Wooster and valet Jeeves, leads readers on an amusing nine-hole course of courtship, friendship, and commerce. The narrator, the golf club's oldest member and an irrepressible raconteur, presents the sport as an eternal metaphor that fits the plight of his captive audience. The collection is loaded with Wodehouse's brilliant humor, piercing satire, and sharp wit and includes "The Awakening of Rollo Podmarsh," "Chester Forgets Himself," "The Heart of a Goof," "High Stakes," "Jane Gets Off the Fairway," "Keeping in with Vosper," "The Magic Plus Fours," "The Purification of Rodney Spelvin," and "Rodney Fails to Qualify."

Recenzii

"It's dangerous to use the word genius to describe a writer, but I'll risk it with him" John Humphrys "For as long as I'm immersed in a P.G. Wodehouse book, it's possible to keep the real world at bay and live in a far, far nicer, funnier one where happy endings are the order of the day" Marian Keyes "Wodehouse always lifts your spirits, no matter how high they happen to be already" Lynne Truss "The incomparable and timeless genius - perfect for readers of all ages, shapes and sizes!" Kate Mosse "Not only the funniest English novelist who ever wrote but one of our finest stylists" Susan Hill
