YOICHI KIBATA is Lecturer and Associate Professor of Foreign Studies at the University of Tokyo. His publications (in Japanese) include The Price of Imperial Rule (1987) and The Twilight of the Empire: British Policy Towards Japan and Malaya 1947-1955.
