en Limba Engleză Paperback

Hidden in plain sight A secret personal diary disguised as a classic work of literature.

"Keep all of your diary entries hidden, cleverly disguised so prying eyes will never find them. Works perfectly when placed on a bookshelf among other books. Continues to work even if you just leave it out on your desk. Prying eyes will never discover your secret stash of personal thoughts."

This book contains the entire text of ""The Hound of the Baskervilles"," the classic "Sherlock Holmes" mystery by "Sir Arthur Conan Doyle." The book was written in 1902, but it remains an enjoyable mystery to solve. The cover of the original first edition printing was painstakingly restored for use in this new paperback edition. In the middle of the book you will also find pages specifically designed to be used as a secret personal diary.

Each page of the diary contains lined spaces for writing your personal thoughts.

Notă biografică

Scottish writer and master storyteller SirArthur Conan Doyle was born in 1859. As a medical student he was so impressed by his professor’s powers of deduction that he was inspired to create the illustrious and much-loved figure Sherlock Holmes. However in contrast to his scientific background, Conan Doyle became increasingly interested in spiritualism, leaving him keen to explore other fantastical elements in stories such as The Lost World.

Judith John (glossary) is a writer and editor specializing in literature and history. She has worked as an editor on major educational projects, including English A: Literature for the Pearson International Baccalaureate series. Judith’s major research interests include Romantic and Gothic literature, and Renaissance drama.

Recenzii

"Arthur Conan Doyle is unique in simultaneously bringing the curtain down on an era and raising one on another, ushering in a genre of writing that, while imitated and expanded, has never been surpassed" -- Stephen Fry "I first encountered him through an eccentric maths teacher who would read 'The Speckled Band' and other Conan Doyle adventures to us instead of teaching fractions. He also used to balance chairs on his chin, but that's another story. I'm still fond of Holmes to this day, especially now that I can see him as the crazed, controlling junkie that he clearly was" -- Mark Billingham "Conan Doyle triumphed and triumphed deservedly, because he took his art seriously, because he lavished a hundred little touches of real knowledge and genuine picturesqueness on the police novelette" -- G.K. Chesterton "A wonderful Sherlock Holmes story from its sparkling first pages, through its vivid painting of darkest Dartmoor, its undertones of fear of the mind's depths, and on to the triumph of the rational" The Times
