The Hudson Through The Years chronicles the history of the Hudson River region of New York State through five centuries, from its early inhabitants, its many Native American tribes, through its early Dutch and English settlers, to its current day residents. Arthur Adams chronicles the region from the American Revolution, through today, incorporating the spread of industrialism, infrastructure, and transportation with tales of the early steamboats, ferries, and horseboats, the Erie, Champlain, Iron and Anthracite canals, through the development of the trolleys, rail roads, and automobiles. The Hudson Through The Years also includes details about the art and architecture in the region. Adams overview of the region through 1996 is especially informative. The Hudson Through The Years is a highly recommended addition to American history collections and ideal reading for the armchair historian!
