Recenzii
Review of the hardback: 'This book is a substantial contribution to the literature on internal displacement. It combines intellectual rigour with the practical aim of improving the protection of the internally displaced. The call for a human rights framework makes considerable sense and a formidable case is presented for it. As Phuong suggests, the long-term answer rests in the promotion of peace and stability, but the evidence of human history indicates that specific protections will continue to be needed. While this book calls for a human rights framework, its content suggests to this reviewer that it is through the legal recognition and protection of specific groups - combined with sustained political and institutional engagement - that effective action might be possible. This will not be news to refugee lawyers.' Colin Harvey, Human Rights Centre, Queen's University Belfast
Review of the hardback: 'Phuong fills a significant lacuna in the human rights literature. In this thoroughly researched, wide ranging, and well-argued volume, she analyzes most things related to the internally displaced: formal definitions, legal protections, nonbinding norms, real-world implementation, and the role sovereignty plays in protecting this group without a legal identity. Although numerous articles exist on the topic, graduate students and scholars will not find another volume that so thoroughly covers the range of issues, making The International Protection of Internally Displaced Persons a welcome and unique contribution.' Review of the hardback: ' This book gives us a clear insight in the problems that are related to displacement and return. it is well structured and the related issues are presented in a thorough way … interesting and noteworthy …' Netherlands Quarterly of Human Rights
Review of the hardback: 'This book can serve as a reference book to practitioners and academics working on the issue of protection of internally displaced persons (IDPs) … a chapter on sovereignty and intervention provides a useful contribution to the literature on sovereignty vs. states' responsibility.' Book Notes
