Book two, The Last True Templar, takes the reader on an adventure through medieval Italy where the excommunicated knight Gerard Fox and his ever-resourceful lady Willa come to the aid of a noblewoman set upon by robbers. Thus begins their search for a vast treasure reputed to have belonged to the Knights Templar. To find it, they must decipher clues that take them throughout Italy and ultimately to a Mediterranean island fortress. The writers' ability to convey a sense of place is remarkable, their research shines without announcing itself as research, and the resulting experience allows the reader to feel that she is in the hands of experts. There is action galore, complicated relationships between men and women, lies, deceit, double-dealing, sword fights, arrow shooting, fires, explosions, feisty indefatigable women, honorable men, dishonorable crooks...and on and on. All this and Italy too. What a ride!'

The story reads like the authors somehow have a time machine and are merely transcribing actual events.
