Notă biografică
Jos De Backer is a Professor of music therapy at Leuven University College of Arts (LUCA), campus Lemmensinstituut, Belgium and is Head of the Masters training course in music therapy. He studied music education and music therapy in Belgium and Vienna and he completed his PhD in music therapy at the University of Aalborg, Denmark. He is Head of the Music Therapy Department in the University Psychiatric Centre KULeuven, campus Kortenberg where he works as a music therapist treating young psychotic patients and patients with personality disorder. De Backer specialises in clinical improvisation, is a member of the advisory Editorial Board for the Nordic Journal of Music Therapy and of the Editorial Panel of the British Journal of Music Therapy and is a past President of the European Music Therapy Confederation. Julie Sutton works in a regional psychotherapy service in the UK NHS, specialising in severe disturbance. She studied music at Royal Holloway College, University of London and obtained postgraduate training in education and music at Goldsmith's College, London University. She has two research degrees from the University of Ulster, including her PhD which looked at improvisation as a form of conversation. Her music therapy training was with City University London/ Nordoff Robbins and she is currently training with the N. I. Association for the Study of Psychoanalysis. Sutton is a Millennium Fellow, member of the Incorporated Society of Musicians, a Trustee of the British Association for Music Therapy, past Vice President of the European Music Therapy Confederation, BAMT Education and Training Officer for the BAMT and Editor-in-Chief for the British Journal of Music Therapy.
