en Limba Engleză Paperback
"A suspenseful plot spanning cultures, religions, and countries, The Operative: Escape from Saudi Arabia takes the reader into a world few of us have experienced. The first of a fascinating trilogy, Forsythe weaves fact and fiction in this powerful tale." -Jan Macomber, MA English Literature Bill Williams was only ten years old when both his parents died-his small-town life in Duncan, Oklahoma was over. Life intervened in the form of his Uncle Sly who tried to tame the spirited boy without success. For a time, Bill lived in an orphanage. A reluctant student, he became fascinated with psychology and hypnosis. After college he joined the military and landed in Saudi Arabia where he was arrested as an Israeli spy. His daring three-week escape across the Red Sea from Saudi Arabia to Israel in a small Arab sail boat called a dhow is only one of many adventures of the intrepid, Dr. Bill Williams. Most of his daring exploits are embellished, but based on true events during his ten years as an educator in Saudi Arabia. This book is the first, in the Teacher, Soldier, Spy trilogy that chronicles two wars: Vietnam and the Russian Afghan War. The next two books in the trilogy are Forks in the Road, which is set in Vietnam, and the Afghan Bear Trap, set in Russia.

Notă biografică

Forsythe lived in Saudi Arabia with his family for a period of ten years. Near the end of his contract, the Saudi Secret police arrested Dr. Forsythe, along with three of his col-leagues. The charge was that of "Jewish Spy." It was touch-and-go for a time but, after seven months of house arrest, the charge was mysteriously dropped. The experience must have had a delayed impact on the author's writing. Following that experience, writing "spy" fiction seemed to be a natural progression and was the catalyst for the three-book "spy novel" series called Teacher, Soldier, Spy. The three books in the series are The Operative, Forks in the Road, and The Afghan Bear Trap, all published by Quinn Press. The author's work experience has been long and var-ied: a stonemason's helper, six years in the military, an edu-cator, and a clinical psychologist. Dr. Forsythe is a physical-fitness nut, with a rabid exercise regimen. He runs races; does daily power yoga; and recently reached his lifelong goal of the Marine Corps maximum for pull-ups, twenty reps. The author has taken up rope climbing ... much to his wife's chagrin. This very senior citizen ascends and de-scends a fifteen-foot rope-hanging from a tree in his backyard-twenty times, every other day. This crazy activity has found its way into his novel, ISIS: Our Children at Risk. The author has taken great pleas-ure in spiking the ISIS novel with characters who were cre-ated for his Teacher, Soldier, Spy trilogy. Dr. Forsythe received his doctorate in the field of counseling psychology from the University of Montana. Dale recently retired as a licensed clinical psychologist.
