Dr. Karahalis has over 35 years' experience as a Certified School Psychologist and is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor specializing in individuals with special needs, in particular: Intellectual Disability, Autism Spectrum Disorder and Schizophrenia as well as non-specific cognitive, emotional, and physical challenges from pre-school through adulthood. Dr. Karahalis experiences include working for non-profit agencies, government developmental and psychiatric facilities, and public and private school districts as well as having an active consulting practice. Dr. Karahalis has also been an adjunct professor of psychology with over 30 years of collegiate service at private and public community colleges. Dr. Karahalis' experiences include working closely with schools, students, and families providing services to pre and post graduate special needs students in implementing coherent individualized education and service plans. These include comprehensive cognitive, adaptive, projective and autism specialty evaluations as needed, as well as individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, and parent and staff development training programs. Dr. Karahalis has received 5 college degrees, including degrees in Psychology, School Psychology, Child Psychology and Educational Leadership. Dr. Karahalis is married with 3 children and lives on Long Island N.Y.
