With the purpose of exploring the critical possibilities offered by the global crisis of coronavirus pandemic, this volume presents the collected works of scholars, educators and practitioners worldwide, bringing to the readers a broad array of perspectives on how COVID-19 inspires us to rethink, redefine, and make sense of the theoretical and pedagogical approaches that can be applied in various educational contexts. Part One of the book provides an insightful exploration of the technology-mediated innovations used in English language learning and teaching. Part Two reflects on the online learning experiences of students, as well as the teachers’ strategies to cope with changes as the COVID-19 pandemic unleashed unprecedented disruptions in class. Part Three looks into a range of case studies regarding the digital divide, cross-border schooling, cyberbullying, and cross-disciplinary skill training in the post-pandemic workplace, highlighting the importance of creating a positivelearning environment. Part Four draws on the observations and experiences of frontline teachers, to examine ways to optimize the digital learning experiences of students in and outside the classroom. TSO, Wing Bo Anna (The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong) Anna Tso obtained her Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics from The University of Birmingham, United Kingdom. She is Associate Professor of English at The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong, the President of the HKAECT (Hong Kong Association for Educational Communications and Technology), the Associate Editor of the award-winning Digital Culture and Humanities book series, and the Lead Editor of Digital Communication and Learning: Changes and Challenges (2022). Her research interests lie in the intersection of applied linguistics, children’s literature, and digital literacy.
NG, Kwan Keung Steven [Ming-Ai (London) Institute] Steven Ng received his Doctor of Business Administration from the University of South Australia. He is Professor of Ascencia Business School at College de Paris, a Visiting Professor of Ming-Ai (London) Institute, and an Honorary Professor of Chung Hua University concurrently. He is also an Executive Committee member of the HKAECT. His research interests include marketing, brand management, international business, consumer behaviour, service quality, teaching and learning, e-learning, and hybrid learning.
LAW, Lok Hei Locky (The University of Hong Kong) Locky Law is Assistant Lecturer in the Centre for Applied English Studies at the University of Hong Kong. He received his Ph.D. in Linguistics and the 'Faculty of Humanities Distinguished Thesis Award' for Ph.D. Students 2018/19 from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. His publications cover topics on creativity, multimodality, digital literacy, telecinematic discourse, social media discourse, Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL), computer-assisted language learning and teaching, learning transfer, English for Academic Purposes (EAP) and English for Specific Purposes (ESP).
BAI, Shurui Tiffany (The Education University of Hong Kong) Tiffany Bai is Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Information Technology, The Education University of Hong Kong. Her main field of research is technology-enhanced learning such as gamification and flipped classroom. She has published in many high-impact factor journals including Computer & Education and Educational Research Review. One of her gamified class designs received the Second Award in International Contest on Blended Teaching & Learning (ICBTL) in 2021.
