Notă biografică
Born into a family of artists, it is no surprise that Anne Maddox would inherit and be influenced by the spirit of the creative expressions that surrounded her throughout most of her early life. Her sisters were involved in the arts and theatre, her mother introduced Anne to classical music, and her father was well known for his pantomimes at the local theatre. He was also commissioned by the local historical society to write the history of the village of Leeds in Kent, England.
As a child, Anne watched her father draw Bible illustrations for his Sunday school lessons, which she and her siblings attended. As she grew older, he began to take her into the local village to sketch the scenery. Even today, her father continues to be an inspiration as she intends to illustrate and publish his collection of humorous poems and stories that he wrote for his children and grandchildren.
Anne attended Folkestone School of Art and Saint Mary's College of Education in Cheltenham, England, studying Art, Religion, and English. After teaching in England, Anne began to foster a desire to travel. She applied to teach abroad, serving first in Nigeria and then the Bahamas. While in the Bahamas, she began to follow her artistic passion. After establishing a successful career in art, Anne left teaching to pursue her art full-time. Anne's interest in nature led her to illustrate a book on the wild flowers of Grand Bahama where she resided. It was in pursuit of a publisher for this book that brought her to the United States. This was her initial foray into writing and illustrating, which led to the development of a book on the Peace Prayers of the major religions of the world and this early reader.
To this day, Anne continues to paint, write, exhibit, and teach watercolor classes in an effort to share her passion with others.
