The Solution

Autor Michael Stockdell
en Limba Engleză Paperback – 17 apr 2017
Our current political system puts too much power into the hands of the few and often produces results that don't work. The Solution proposes a plan that restricts the size and scope of the federal government while increasing the direct influence of the people. The goal is to make government simpler with full public accountability. The book is divided into four sections. Two sections describe the various reasons why big government programs don't work and refute the reasons often cited for why they should. Parts three and four propose my notion of a fix to the political system: first, a number of constitutional amendments aimed at making government function similar to what the founders intended and yet are more modern and, second, policy recommendations that repair and replace nonfunctional programs and deal with a number of existing political and social issues.

Notă biografică

Michael Stockdell is an autodidact. Although he has three degrees, most of his education has been obtained by reading thousands of books on a wide variety of serious subjects. Although an English major at the University, he spent most of his business career in a series of high-level positions in the computer industry where he was known for his inventive and visionary solutions. He combines a prodigious memory with the ability to see both the big picture and the elements that make it up. Beginning early in the current millennium, he undertook years of deep thought about the fallacies of our political system, especially the growing centralization and authoritarianism. From this he developed a number of original ideas to how governance might be improved without sacrificing individual liberty.
