He trained completed his radiology training at the University of Parma, where he subsequently obtained his PhD in “Advanced Cardio-Thoracic Imaging” in 2010. He is currently Associate Professor and Chief of the Section “Scienze Radiologiche” at the University Hospital of Parma. Professor Sverzellati is the radiology lead for imaging of chest disorders at the University Hospital of Parma. His research activity is focused on imaging of interstitial lung disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and lung cancer. He has also taken part in several lung cancer screening trials (Multicentric Italian Lung Detection trial). He is the author or co-author of 170 peer review articles, numerous abstracts for international congresses, and book chapters. He’s Associate Editor of BMC Pulm Med, Radiologia Medica, Tumori Journal, and European Respiratory Review Journal.
Mario Silva graduated in Radiology at the University of Parma and completed a research fellowship in Cardio-Pulmonary Imaging at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts. He obtained his PhD in “Surgical Sciences and Applied Microbiology” in 2017. He is currently a Researcher at the University of Parma and National Cancer Institute in Milan, Italy. Dr Silva is an active researcher in the field of thoracic imaging, including thoracic oncology. His main scientific interests are early diagnosis of lung cancer through screening (active involvement in MILD and bioMILD trials) and the evolving scenario of medical treatment of pulmonary malignancies. He has authored or co-authored over 50 peer-reviewed articles published in international scientific journals, numerous abstracts at international congresses, and published book chapters on thoracic imaging. Textul de pe ultima copertă
This book highlights the differences, in terms of neoplastic dissemination pathways, between various types of thoracic cancers. It presents and discusses a comprehensive schematic overview of tumors of the lung parenchyma, of the mediastinum, of the pleura, and of the chest wall. For each tumor, it details the local spread and the lymphatic and vascular dissemination, and it describes the challenging staging of lung tumors with mutations. Illustrations and artwork enrich the content and help readers to understand and visualize tumor spread. The book is of great interest to professionals involved in the study, diagnosis and treatment of thoracic pathologies, as well as to residents in radiology, oncology and pulmonology.
