Notă biografică

Lachlan Philpott began writing plays while studying directing at the Victorian College of the Arts. His first play, Bison, was a hit at the Midsumma Festival in 2000 and established his ongoing collaboration with director Alyson Campbell. Lachlan since completed the NIDA Playwrights' Studio. He has worked widely in youth theatre and was the Artistic Director of Tantrum Theatre in Newcastle and writer in residence at Red Stitch Theatre Melbourne. Lachlan's plays have been performed across Australia as well as Ireland, the UK and USA. His plays include Catapult, Running under the Sprinkler, Due Monday, Bustown, Air Torture, Silent Disco and Truck Stop.

This thoughtful, bittersweet play is a welcome addition to the canon of new writing currently emerging here - On the basis of this insightful creative collaboration, one can only hope that more of the same is in the offing.
Why can we not be our 'real' selves in public? Why do we constantly dissimulate in both our social and personal relationships? What is 'authentic' and unalterable in human nature, and what is up for negotiation? The Trouble with Harry doesn't answer these questions definitively, but poses them with particular intelligence and acuity.
