Recenzii

Rose provides a good balance of information, taking into account the limitations of the sources and including several interesting details, such as on particular wines, monopolies and corruption stories in the quest to control and profit from one of the most traded commodities in Europe by the 11th century. The book constitutes overall a very interesting read.
Susan Rose's book provides a useful overview of what was one of the most important high-volume trades of the Middle Ages, concerning a product which was one of the most culturally significant of the age.
