The Writing on the Wall

Autor Denise Cory Blake
en Limba Engleză Paperback – 26 oct 2020
There was to be no public display of emotion at the train station. The Wharton brothers, Joe, Harry, and Ernie, strode off to war, grins etched on their faces. Out -of-step strides carried them through the cheers that echoed by. Joe, the eldest of the brothers, his eyes never still, searched the crowd desperately for a glimpse of his girl Dulcie, where was she? whilst his mind replayed the sombre farewell scenes of home. The disconsolate look on his father's face, his mother's courage as she fought the tears, the urgent hugs from his sister Cissy. The thuds of their regimented strides resounded eerily through the streets, swallowed up by the crowds, as the three marched of to war, and into history.

Notă biografică

As DENISE CORY BLAKE, the teller of tales, the weaver of words, I unravel the intricate stories web, page by page, drawing my unsuspecting readers into the wonder of my imagination. Each novel is different, diverse in its origins. They come from a mind which is vibrant, eager, as in my youth, for despite my advancing years, I am still a mischievous child at heart. From this, has come: - 'Sailor, sailor', a novel of WW2, based loosely on my parents' war time experiences, 'The writing on the wall', about three brothers in ww1, 'Guy De Tournet, child of revolution, son of France. A French man who follows Bonaparte into the frozen wastes of 1812 Russia where he finds love amongst the Cossacks. Yet, far more than just a love story. As is; - 'Beneath a crescent moon; woven in the present and the past, between Christian and Arab. My latest; - 'A Family Affair', is different again. It tells the poignant story of the McKendrick's, the father and son's love for the same woman, and the emotional turmoil that causes between them.
