Notă biografică

Suresh C. Pillai obtained his PhD in the area of Nanotechnology from Trinity College Dublin and then performed his postdoctoral research at California Institute of Technology (Caltech), USA. Upon completion of this appointment he returned to Trinity College Dublin as a Research Fellow before joining CREST-DIT as a Senior Scientist in April 2004. He joined IT Sligo in 2013 as a senior lecturer in nanotechnology and currently leads the Nanotechnology and Bio-Engineering Research Group. He is an elected fellow of the UK's Royal Microscopical Society (FRMS) and the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (FIMMM). He has also completed an executive MBA from Dublin City University. He has published several scientific articles in leading peer reviewed journals, has contributed to several book chapters, has presented in more than forty international conferences and has delivered over forty international invited talks.

Yvonne Lang is a Lecturer at the Institute of Technology Sligo, Ireland.

Recenzii

"This multiauthor volume offers a compilation of quality essays edited to furnish a comprehensive overview of the toxicological and environmental impact of nanomaterials. Significant emphasis is placed on the morphology of nanomaterials and the potential for toxicity to emerge during their synthesis and application. The essays are well written and easy to read despite the exhaustively referenced scientific and technical knowledge represented by their content. They cover much ground while emphasizing fundamental concepts and approaches to assessing and evaluating nanomaterials for their toxicity and impact on health. This book ought not, however, to be treated as a textbook in the usual sense, as a considerable foundation in nanotechnology, physical chemistry, biochemistry, and cellular biology will be essential for a reader to fully benefit from working through its content. The volume will be of greatest interest to advanced graduate students, scholars, and researchers at the doctoral or post-doctoral level working in the fields of nanotechnology, bioengineering, or medicine.
Summing Up: Recommended. Graduate students, faculty, and professionals"
—P. R. Sukthankar, University of Kansas in CHOICE, April 2020
