The European Thematic Network Acume 2 -Interfacing Sciences, Literature and Humanities: an Interdisciplinary Approach- discussed translation theory and practice through an interdisciplinary approach at an international conference held at the University of Calabria in 2009. The contributors of this collection propose different voices on the theory and practice of translation as an act of communication across linguistic and cultural barriers where the translator's role is central.
