Understanding the Hebrew Messiah

Autor Dennis Herman
en Limba Engleză Paperback
This third and final book in this series on Luke's Gospel begins with a few parables about money, honesty, and effects money has on people as well as religion. The last few chapters in this series deal with Jesus' ministry inside the temple courtyard. This is where Jesus made His final plea to the religious leaders as well as last minute instructions for His disciples before He began that long walk to Golgotha. The first two series on Matthew and Mark's Gospels raised a number of questions. The question foremost in my mind has been, why Jesus' disciples didn't understand the prophecies He was about to fulfill. The prophecies He had to fulfill. In hindsight, those prophecies seem rather easy to understand. But a closer examination of scripture from Luke's perspective shows, we have a lot to learn. Some people have missed much more than those disciples did. Here is where a simple rule of context telling us to always look back over scripture comes into action. As questions arise, we have the ability to look back over previous events to see how Jesus, the Author of the plan of salvation, prepared each and every step leading to that day He was arrested, tried, and nailed to that cross. When we investigate the cross as a crime scene, looking for clues and evidence scattered over Jesus' three year ministry, the event takes on a whole new light. We see distinct evidence of the value in this type of study when we consider the fact, Jesus began that phase of His ministry by walking into the wilderness to face the devil on the ground he claimed. That began some of the most important series of events leading up to the cross. We cannot know the exact thoughts going through the minds of each of those disciple when Jesus laid in that tomb. But we are able to construct a collection of points to consider after collecting facts from previous events in Jesus' ministry. This is not a look behind the scenes type of speculation, but a well know Bible Study method in action, illustrated in such a way, readers will be able to reconstruct the scene of any story in the Bible by looking back at how inspired authors recorded details. Stories come alive based on facts recorded in scripture. After reading this series of books, you'll never need another reference book or commentary to answer questions about scripture. You'll know how and where to look for answers in scripture. You'll find details in every book in the Bible, praise God for that understanding, then wonder why no one ever shared those details with you before. This series of books will not only show you how scripture will come alive, and leave you in awe, the stories and lessons highlighted by these books will help you to prepare and become a better witness. It doesn't matter if you concentrate on family, friends, strangers who cross your path, or evangelize in front of thousands. The study concepts are the same and can be applied to any story in the Bible. You'll soon find yourself understanding more in scripture than ever imagined. You'll also find yourself memorizing more stories in scripture than you ever imagined. And witnessing to an extent you thought was reserved for only a few of the people in those stories.
