Unforgiven is more of a stand-alone novel. You couldn’t read this novel however, if you have not read the Fallen series. There were way too many mentions of Sword & Cross, the school that was featured in Fallen (book #1). There was also multiple mentions of the main characters of the previous series; Luce and Daniel but that felt more like that was the standard of love Cam - the main character in this novel - was trying to live up to! Cam was the ‘bad boy’ in the previous books. While he still had that bravado in the first few chapters, I felt that as the story progressed, he shed that toughness and became something more! Our other main character, Lilith also saw a transformation that I really enjoyed seeing! At the beginning, she was this loner girl that shied away from everyone but by the end, she had friends, she wanted to be friendly with people even if they weren’t so with her! Arriane and Roland also pop up and I just love their friendship! It’s one of my favourite things in this series. (I wish they had their own book!) The story did feel a little repetitive in the fact that it was (basically) about a guy trying to get a girl that once loved him to love him again but she doesn’t remember who the guy is.
