Although dance is one of the world's oldest art forms, choreography was first included in the laws of Germany, France and the USA as a separate category of copyrightable works during the course of the 20th century. This work places special emphasis on the following questions: which concepts can be protected as a work of choreography and how is the original work of authorship determined? Targeted towards attorneys concerned with questions related to choreography, this work can also serve as a reference for representatives of the dance community as an introduction to the copyright issues relevant to their work.
