Urogynecology: Evidence-Based Clinical Practice

Autor Kate Moore
en Limba Engleză Paperback – 21 iun 2006
All about urinary incontinence, prolapse and fecal incontinence - the only small book that does all three, "Urogynecology: Evidence-Based Clinical Practice" is written in easily understood language, giving the practical elements of the subject. The book avoids the depths of research detail, common to the large texts, and summarizes the practical patient management based upon the available evidence and author’s own clinical experience, indicating controversial areas where there is insufficient evidence.
The book provides advice on how to make a rapid assessment and start conservative treatment for general practitioners, and provides information suitable for junior gynecology/female urology trainees. Current management options are described, so that consultant gynecologists with no previous formal urogynecological training would find this a useful quick practical update.

Recenzii

From the reviews:
"This is one of the few pocket-sized books on urogynecology aimed to provide residents in training with an overview of the practical elements of the specialty based on current evidence without lengthy discussion of controversies. The author sought to fill a need for a concise book that residents in training or medical students rotating in urogynecology can refer to for a quick how-to guide. It can also serve to provide gynecologists with no formal training in urogynecology with a practical update on the topic. Recently, the number of comprehensive reference books on female urology/urogynecology has significantly increased, but there remains a need for concise pocket-sized books. The author has done a good job in addressing the need. This book has many things to offer. It is concise, current, practical, and most importantly evidence-based. All of these characteristics make it an excellent pocket reference for students and residents in training and a good source of updates for gynecologists, urologists, or general practitioners with no formal training in the field." (Adonis K. Hijaz, Doody’s Book Review Service™, 2006)
"This concise book is aimed at junior trainees starting to learn in the field of urogynaecology as a clear ‘how to do it’ pocket guide. … The recommendations of the International Continence Society are followed throughout the book in terms, assessment methods and management plans, illustrating to trainees how to base their learning on proper standards from the start. … The book represents an invaluable resource to those starting to learn urogynaecology." (Sharif I. M. F. Ismail, International Urogynecology Journal, Vol. 19, 2008)
