When I Was 36

Autor Don Michael Wilson
en Limba Engleză Paperback – 8 mai 2022
This very touching book of poetry "When I Was 36" was written when the young author was trying to survive midlife and was sincerely trying to answer the questions that kept him awake at night. He was searching for deeper meaning in life by writing down his poetry while the rest of the family was asleep and the house was quiet. He puzzled over why some people lack sensitivity, caring, and observation. He reminds us to focus on what is really important in a day or in a lifetime. He reminds us to focus on each person as an individual, for "that person has value". Don Michael "Mike" Wilson was born February 6, 1942 in Ft. Worth, Texas. His father Don Wilson started Wilson Office Supply a year later in Wichita Falls, Texas, which became Mike's hometown. Mike began to work in the family business after graduating from Texas Christian University in 1965. Don Wilson passed away in January 1974, leaving Mike to head the company.

Notă biografică

Mike is a voracious reader and has a variety of interests. Some of them include photography, drone flying, collecting kaleidoscopes (and more), and also performing as an amateur and sometimes professional magician. He earned money throughout his college years by working for the Colonial Country Club in Ft. Worth, teaching magic and entertaining at parties and functions. Children and their well-being have been an important focus of his life. He volunteered as a Child Advocate (CASA) for several years, and has entertained as "Santa" at the Kell House Museum in Wichita Falls for well over 30 years. When Mike was 70, he began volunteering at Hospice with his therapy dog Abby, and touched the hearts of many people with this little friend. When Abby passed, his life was turned upside down. While still grieving, he adopted Mindy. This little Pomeranian dog is not ready to be a therapy dog yet, but she has comforted and eased the pain of Abby's loss. As of January 2022, Mike goes to work every morning with Mindy, the Pomeranian, who maintains eye contact with him and watches his every move.
