Women and Retirement: Challenges of a New Life Stage
Autor Susan Moore, Doreen Rosenthalen Limba Engleză Paperback – 20 sep 2018
Women and Retirement: Challenges of a New Life Stage is the first book of its kind to examine women’s retirement using a lifespan perspective. Based on the authors’ extensive study of over 1,000 retired Australian women as well as current research, the book presents models of various retirement trajectories and compares women’s experiences with the more widely researched retirement experiences of men. Moore and Rosenthal consider the nature of the transition from full-time work to retirement and the many different pathways and factors influencing this journey: women’s financial status in the retirement years; their health changes; and the varied activity patterns they adopt.
Women and Retirement is a comprehensive, up-to-date and evidence-based review of the female retirement experience. It will be invaluable for courses on ageing and health within psychology, women’s studies, social work and sociology, and for use by practitioners in these fields.

Recenzii
'Women and Retirement: Challenges of a New Life Stage provides a unique and comprehensive insight into the retirement trajectories of older women from authors who are international experts in the health and social lives of women. Their study of over 1,000 older women as they move into retirement is ground-breaking and provides a gendered perspective on this important transition. A feature of the book is that the voices of older women are clearly heard throughout the manuscript. I strongly recommend the book for students, health and social care professionals and researchers alike.’Professor Colette Browning, Australian National University, Australia
‘Moore and Rosenthal are two highly esteemed authors, who have turned their attention to a subject of great importance for women the world over. This is a topic that could hardly be more relevant today. More and more women are having to face up to the challenges of later life following employment. How do they do it? What choices do they make? And how do these choices impact on their lives and the lives of those close to them? This is a fascinating and important book that will be widely read by all who are interested in the lives of women in the 21st century.’ Professor John Coleman OBE, UK
