Recenzii

"Kathleen Kendall-Tackett and Lesia Ruglass have edited a must-have book for all mental health practitioners. The scope of women’s mental health issues covered is truly expansive, starting with the mental health of adolescent girls and continuing through the lifespan of women. What a gift this book will be for all women who will benefit from the knowledge their mental health clinicians will gain from reading this valuable book."
Cheryl Tatano Beck, DNSc, CNM, FAAN, Board of Trustees Distinguished Professor, School of Nursing, University of Connecticut
"For many years, the biomedical model has failed to describe contextual factors that shape women’s health development. By integrating science and practice with a developmental perspective that takes into consideration cultural issues affecting women’s health, this book achieves just that. The authors address vital topics that could help address health disparities in women, such as the problem with overgeneralized results, the impact of racism on health, and the different cultural expressions of distress."
Sandra Mattar, PsyD, supervisor, Center for Multicultural Training in Psychology, Boston Medical Center, Boston University School of Medicine
"These expert clinician scholars focus on how the intersections of development, culture, and social standpoint affect women’s mental well-being. They attend to resilience, self-esteem, and self-efficacy, as well as difficulty and morbidity. Taken as a whole, this book presents textured interpretations of research findings—from prevalence, to risk and protective factors, to evidence-based interventions—in a coherent translation to practice."
Julia S. Seng, PhD, CNM, FAAN, professor of nursing, obstetrics, and women’s studies, University of Michigan
"This volume is a rich and comprehensive source of information on the broad topic of women’s mental health. An all-star line-up of scholars from academia and from the private practice of clinical psychology review the scientific literature on the unique challenges faced by women of different ages, ethnicities, socio-economic circumstances, occupations, abilities/disabilities, and gender identification. The authors share their expertise and experience in their highly readable and informative styles. Thanks to editors Kathleen Kendall-Tackett and Lesia Ruglass for this outstanding contribution!"
Penny Simkin, PT, educator, author of When Survivors Give Birth: Understanding and Healing the Effects of Early Sexual Abuse on Childbearing Women
