RITA J. SIMON is a sociologist and University Professor at the School of Public Affairs and the Washington College of Law at American University. She is the co-editor of Intercountry Adoption: A Multinational Perspective (Praeger, 1990) and author of The Jury System in America, Public Opinion and the Immigrant, and Women and Crime.GLORIA DANZIGER is a lawyer specializing in immigration law as well as a journalist covering politics, the public interest movement, and legal affairs. Her articles have appeared in Congressional Quarterly Weekly Report, The Utne Reader, Washington Dossier, and other periodicals.
