Recenzii
Autobiographer successfully presents us with one reality of dementia and our attitudes to it - deeply poetical
Wilson uses an unobtrusive vocabulary to say something quietly surprising. It is the beauty of telling stories, even when there is no narrative. And it is the importance of people connecting, especially if we don't know who we are
This show is a long poem, shakily and delicately sketched in our minds by four women, who in similar clothing represent the life of one woman - A clear amount of loving research has gone into this work, which considers the terrible nature of dementia without making it overly sentimental
Heartfelt and lyrical
Melanie Wilson's gorgeous harrowing Autobiographer is an absorbing performance poem - Wilson's language is dazzling, moving from playful lucidity at the beginning to a Joycean storm at the climax, as multiple Floras deliver a barrage of fragmentary reminiscence and her memories collapse upon themselves - Autobiographer is a work of vivid poetry
