His
novels
captured

the

imagination
over
a

than
thirty
years.
John
Bowen
teaches
English
at
the
University
of
Keele.
He
has
written
widely
on
Charles
Dickens
and
is
the
author
of
'Other
Dickens:
Pickwick
to
Dombey'
(OUP,
2000).
