Recenzii
“The purpose is to provide a comprehensive andpractical resource for physicians performing presurgical functional MRI, whichis becoming more prevalent in most large centers and is replacing more invasivediagnostic studies. … This is an ideal single source for neuroradiologistsinterested in incorporating presurgical functional MRI into their clinical practice.Neurosurgeons also will find this a helpful resource for technical details andlimitations/pitfalls in functional imaging.” (Bruce C. Gilbert, Doody’s BookReviews, October, 2015)
Textul de pe ultima copertă
The second, revised edition of this successful textbook provides an up-to-date description of the use of preoperative functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) in patients with brain tumors and epilepsies. State of the art fMRI procedures are presented, with detailed consideration of practical aspects, imaging and data processing, normal and pathological findings, and diagnostic possibilities and limitations. Relevant information on brain physiology, functional neuroanatomy, imaging technique, and methodology is provided by recognized experts in these fields. Compared with the first edition, chapters have been updated to reflect the latest developments and in particular the current use of diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) and resting-state fMRI. Entirely new chapters are included on resting-state presurgical fMRI and the role of DTI and tractography in brain tumor surgery. Further chapters address multimodality functional neuroimaging, brain plasticity, and pitfalls, tips, and tricks. The book is designed to be of value to beginners, trained clinicians, and experts alike.

Offers detailed guidance on the preoperative use of functional MRI in patients with brain tumors and epilepsies Explains diagnostic possibilities and limitations Discusses practical aspects and imaging techniques Includes new and revised chapters reflecting the current use of DTI and resting-state fMRI
Notă biografică
Professor Dr. Christoph Stippich, MD, is the Director of the Department of Neuroradiology and Radiology, Schmieder Clinic, Germany.
He studied medicine at the Philipps University in Marburg, Germany and completed his doctoral thesis on clinical neurological monitoring in neurosurgical patients in 1995. He did his residency in neurology, radiology, and neuroradiology at the University Hospitals of Erlangen, Marburg, and Heidelberg (Germany) followed by a specialization in diagnostic and interventional neuroradiology.
In 2004, he was awarded the title of Private Lecturer and subsequently taught as associate professor at the University of Heidelberg, Germany. In 2009 he was elected chair of the division of Diagnostic and Interventional Neuroradiology at the University Hospital Basel and full professor in neuroradiology. In 2018, he moved to the University Hospital Zurich, Switzerland, as full professor, chairman and director of the department of neuroradiology.
Professor Stippich is a board-certified radiologist, diagnostic and interventional neuroradiologist. He served as vice-president of the Swiss Society of Neuroradiology and is currently chair of the Alpine Chapter of the Organization for Human Brain Mapping, besides numerous memberships and functions in various medical and scientific organizations. His research is focused on advanced MRI, especially functional and structural neuroimaging.
Furthermore, he has authored and co-authored more than 150 peer-reviewed articles and has given numerous talks, specializing on advanced neuroimaging, clinical imaging, and functional neuroradiology. Since the mid-nineties he is an active researcher involved in multidisciplinary and multicenter trials.
His personal passion is professional education of young radiologists and neuroscientists along with supervision of academic careers.
