Diseases of the Vitreo-Macular Interface: Essentials in Ophthalmology

Editat de Aniz Girach, Marc D. de Smet
en Limba Engleză Paperback – oct 2016
This clinically oriented book is the first to be devoted wholly to the diagnosis and treatment of vitreo-macular interface disease, characterized by a combination of vitreo-macular adhesion (VMA) and vitreo-macular traction (VMT) that is implicated in a variety of disorders. World-renowned experts in the field discuss epidemiologic, anatomic, and physiologic aspects, document the findings obtained with newer imaging techniques, such as spectral domain optical coherence tomography, describe the treatment options, and report on the results of preclinical and clinical trials, including some previously unpublished findings. This book will prove invaluable for ophthalmologists as we advance toward a future in which treatments of diseases such as age-related macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy will likely require adjunctive therapy to tackle VMA/VMT concurrently.

Recenzii

“This is the first book on the vitreo-macular interface and its disorders. … The book is intended for vitreoretinal surgeons, researches and other allied personnel that are interested in the topic. … This book will open a new era of investigation and implementation of knowledge regarding the wide array of vitreoretinal disorders.” (Shimon Rumelt, Graefe's Archive for Clinical and Experimental Ophthalmology, Vol. (255), 2017)

Textul de pe ultima copertă

Disease of the vitreo-macular interface is characterized by vitreo-macular adhesion (VMA), which can lead to abnormal forces on the retina termed vitreo-macular traction (VMT). This combination of VMA and VMT can itself cause impairment of vision and is implicated in a variety of disorders, including wet age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, macular edema, and macular hole. Vitreo-macular interface disease has recently begun to receive more attention owing in part to the advent of new imaging techniques that allow more accurate diagnosis and in part to advances in treatment.
This clinically oriented book is the first to be devoted wholly to the diagnosis and treatment of vitreo-macular interface disease. World-renowned experts in the field discuss epidemiologic, anatomic, and physiologic aspects, document the findings obtained with newer imaging techniques, such as spectral domain optical coherence tomography, describe the treatment options, and reporton the results of preclinical and clinical trials, including some previously unpublished findings. This book will prove invaluable for ophthalmologists as we advance toward a future in which treatments of diseases such as age-related macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy will likely require adjunctive therapy to tackle VMA/VMT concurrently.
