Public țintă

The encyclopedia will be an essential resource for medical students, PhD students, physicians within and outside Gastroenterology, non-physician translational scientists, nutrition students, dieticians, natural medicine practitioners, faculty teaching GI and liver physiology or gastroenterology and hepatology. The primary audience is established academics and researchers, faculty teaching staff and physicians, with medical students and other undergraduates comprising an important but secondary audience. In order to make the content as useful for the student market as possible, we will be including new summary chapters in the second edition to introduce the topics under discussion and make the content as accessible as possible for students entering the field from non-GI specialisms.

Recenzii

"This encyclopedia is a truly unique, remarkable, and impressive work. The author, contributors, and publisher are to be congratulated on such a massive undertaking. The book is well organized and cross referenced. It is a great addition to any medical school or medical center library. One of the unique features of this book is that it comes in an ebook version, which makes it interactive and accessible from anywhere in this age of extreme dependency on digital media. The lack of colored images in the print version made some illustrations (in particular high-resolution, histological, and pathological images) less clear. Nevertheless, it is pleasantly surprising and refreshing to see how useful, well written, and easy to read and follow this textbook is. The first edition was published in 2003. Since then, there has been revolutionary progression in the field of gastroenterology and hepatology at all levels and surge in translational and pathophysiology research, let alone the ever expanding diagnostic and therapeutic options currently available. Therefore, a new edition that covers and reflects the aforementioned progress is a welcome replacement of the first edition." --Doody
