C diz is the eigth novel of the first series of Episodios Nacionales by Benito P rez Gald s. The protagonist, Gabriel de Araceli, is transferred to the garrison of Cadiz, where he narrates his difficulty in reaching his beloved In s and the jealousy caused by the presence of Lord Gray. Meanwhile, Gabriel provides an account of the different trends in society, mixed with fictional characters and historical protagonists. Cadiz is the main bastion of resistance against the French, but also home to the new Spanish government without a king and an epicenter of social change.
