There's something achingly familiar about Daniel Grigori.
Mysterious and aloof, he captures Luce Price's attention from the moment she sees him on her first day at the Sword & Cross boarding school in sultry Savannah, Georgia. He's the one bright spot in a place where cell phones are forbidden, the other students are all screw-ups, and security cameras watch every move.
Even though Daniel wants nothing to do with Luce--and goes out of his way to make that very clear--she can't let it go. Drawn to him like a moth to a flame, she has to find out what Daniel is so desperate to keep secret . . . even if it kills her.

Maria Nastasia a dat nota:
I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading the other books to follow in the series. It was slightly Twilightish (sans vampires) with a stronger female character. The plot was vividly portrayed and the characters were easy to relate to. The ending may be bothersome to some. It doesn't just leave you waiting to figure out what happens next; it also has you wondering what just happened? Not quite the same pace as the rest of the book. A lot was covered in the last 50 pages, leaving you with a lot of questions and a great deal of anticipation for what's to come. I was hoping for a better explanation of who the "fallen" were and the history of the two main characters, Luce and Daniel. Hopefully, that will be explained in the books to follow. I do have to say it was refreshing to read a supernatural fantasy that wasn't totally centered around vampires. I was intrigued by Daniel Grigori throughout the story and couldn't wait to find out who and what he was. The cover art is great so I'm sure that will draw in a lot of attention. It certainly has a lot of teen appeal and they will really like the story, but I'm not certain it will have a lot of adult attention like some of the other YA series out there. Overall, I would recommend it to anyone (most likely under the age of 19) looking for a love story with a dark twist
