Hydraulic Principles and Design Concepts for Submain Units with Multiple Outlet Pipelines: New Analytical Techniques with Engineering Applications: Synthesis Lectures on Engineering, Science, and Technology

Autor Gürol Yıldırım
en Limba Engleză Paperback – 15 iul 2024
This book provides a state-of-the-art review of recent analytical developments on multi-outlets pipe flow hydraulics and alternative hydraulic design concepts. For this purpose, the book presents simple, but sufficiently accurate analytical equations, that can be applied directly without needing any numerical technique to achieve whole hydraulic computations. The analytical procedures explained here give an opportunity for designers to better understand the basic hydraulic principles of multi-outlet pipe flow, and demonstrate their applicability and efficiency to design problems of multi-outlet sub-main lines, covering various design configurations.

Notă biografică

Gürol Yıldırım is full Professor of Civil Engineering, Head of Hydraulics Division, Civil Engineering Department, and Vice Rector of Giresun University, Turkey.
Born in Konya, Turkey, he received Ph.D. degree from Hydraulic Engineering Division at Istanbul Technical University, Civil Engineering Faculty, in 2007. During his doctorate at Istanbul Technical University, he taught courses in fluid mechanics, hydraulics, water resources, hydrology, water supply and environmental sanitation; river hydraulics and restoration, flood control and its hydrology, manifold and diffuser hydraulics in water distribution networks. He has been at Texas A&M University (TAMU) Biological and Agricultural Engineering Department (BAEN) for post-doctorate research and joined in colloborative projects with Dr. Vijay P. Singh.. Dr. Yıldırım received associate professorship degree in 2011, and professorship degree in 2016, in Civil and Hydraulic Engineering Department.
His researches is mainly conducted on the hydraulic and economic analysis and design concepts on water distribution networks, pipe flows hydraulics analysis i.e. low-volume and low-pressurized irrigation systems, , turbulent and resistance law phenomena pipe turbulent flows, friction factor computation methods using truly analytical, numerical and semi-theoretical approaches and new soft-computing techniques, and commercial pipeline design. He has published full-paper technical articles, technical notes, discussions and closures, more than 100, in respective publishers; reviewed numerous technical papers, published book chapters, technical reports in several major projects.
Dr. Yıldırım has received “the Best Discussion Award”, from American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) at the Environmental Water Resources Institute (EWRI) Conference, in Honolulu/Hawaii, 2008. He is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and also  Member of Science and Advisory Board of the Journal of Environment, Urban and Climate, published under the Republic of Turkey, Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change. He lives with his wife Semra, his daughter Mihrimah Ruveyda, and his son Mücahit in Giresun/Turkey.
