Recenzii
“Book fulfills its purpose of providing a deeper understanding of coronary artery disease in elderly patients using a simple, practical, and straightforward approach. … useful for all personnel involved in elderly cardiac care, including practicing interventional cardiologists, general cardiologists, fellows, trainees, researchers, nurse practitioners, and house staff. … provides step-by-step instructions on what to expect, what to do and how to do it, what to avoid, and how to manage, with valuable updates on safety requirements and current practice recommendations.” (Fahad Javed, Doody's Book Reviews, March, 2016)
Textul de pe ultima copertă
This book provides an in-depth review of current practices in the treatment of elderly patients with coronary artery disease. It presents an update of existing literature, reflecting the current science of elderly patients with stable angina, acute coronary syndromes, and patients who go on to receive coronary artery bypass grafting procedures.
Evidence is often limited or non-existent in the elderly patient group. As such, the main challenge for further research is to define the role of geriatric preconditions and their impact on outcomes. This book aims to clarify if existing cardiological outcome values such as mortality can be applied to elderly patients, or if other values are more suitable parameters for measuring interventional success.
Interventional Cardiology in the Elderly discusses the epidemiological, pathophysiological and ethical aspects of each of these topics and is hence an essential resource for all practicing interventional cardiologists.

Caracteristici
Provides an in depth review of the current practice and literature in treating elderly patients with coronary artery disease Only text available which describes in detail the distinctive features of elderly patients undergoing percutaneous coronary interventions Clarifies how existing outcome values like mortality can be applied to elderly patients or if other values like improvement of functional status or quality of life are more suitable parameters to measure interventional success
