Recenzii
“This is a breakthrough in combined imaging modalities covering the usage of PET with more traditional approaches to organ system pathology and diagnosis. … This work is one of the best for advanced nuclear medicine and CNS PET scientists. I highly recommend it to students, residents, medical physicists, and radiologists with an interest in diagnosis using the PET and fusion technologies.” (Joseph J. Grenier, Amazon.com, July, 2015)
“This book’s international cohort of authors and editors from both sides of the Atlantic have successfully managed to share their experience by succinctly outlining the current status of this robust multimodality imaging technology in a easy to read, illustrated and relevant manner. … It is an essential read for all those medical professionals … who are interested in exploring this new hybrid multimodality gadget and its associated penumbra.” (Zia Sand, RAD Magazine, March, 2015)

PET/MRI is an exciting novel diagnostic imaging modality that combines the precise anatomic and physiologic information provided by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) with the molecular data obtained with positron emission tomography (PET). PET/MRI offers the promise of a simplified work flow, reduced radiation, whole-body imaging with superior soft tissue contrast, and time of flight physiologic information. It has been described as the pathway to molecular imaging in medicine.
In compiling this textbook, the editors have brought together a truly international group of experts in MRI and PET. The book is divided into two parts. The first part covers methodology and equipment and comprises chapters on basic molecular medicine, development of specific contrast agents, MR attenuation and validation, quantitative MRI and PET motion correction, and technical implications for both MRI and PET. The second part of the book focuses on clinical applications in oncology, cardiology, and neurology. Imaging of major neoplasms, including lymphomas and tumors of the breast, prostate, and head and neck, is covered in individual chapters. Further chapters address functional and metabolic cardiovascular examinations and major central nervous system applications such as brain tumors and dementias. Risks, safety aspects, and healthcare costs and impacts are also discussed.
This book will be of interest to all radiologists and nuclear medicine physicians who wish to learn more abo
