This work offers an updated and comprehensive commentary of Ovid’s Epistula Sappho, which out of the fifteen single Heroides has had the most controversial transmission and has been considered spurious for long time and by a vast majority of scholars. The volume fully places the letter within the remainder of Ovid’s poetry and defends its authenticity, highlighting the role it plays in relation to the other epistles and the following poems.
