Eleanor Emily Hodgman (19 December 1868-21 May 1920) was an American novelist whose most famous novel, Pollyanna (1913), became a popular phenomenon. She was trained as a singer, attending the New England Conservatory for several years. Porter wrote mainly children's literature, adventure stories, and romance fiction.
