Notă biografică
Jacques Buffle became an associate professor of electroanalytical chemistry at the University of Lausanne (Switzerland). To this he added another academic affiliation in visiting the group of Batley at the Centre for Environmental Contaminants Research, in Lucas Heights, Australia. Beyond academia, he served as a member of the International Union of Physical and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) from about 1983 until 1999 cofounding its Division of Chemistry and the Environment and as a member of the Swiss National Science Foundation from 1992 to 2000.

Environmental Particles, Volume 2 presents a critical review of the sampling, characterization, and behavior of particles in air, surface and ground water, sediments, and solids. The book analyzes the formation, aggregation, transport, and conversion of particles, and it evaluates the capabilities of physical and chemical methods of analysis.
