Notă:  5.00 · 2 note - 1 recenzie
en Limba Engleză Paperback – 31 mai 2011
Rilla of Ingleside is the final book in the Anne of Green Gables series by Lucy Maud Montgomery, but was the sixth of the eight "Anne" novels she wrote. This book draws the focus back onto a single character, Anne and Gilbert's youngest daughter Bertha Marilla "Rilla" Blythe. It has a more serious tone, as it takes place during World War I and the three Blythe boys - Jem, Walter, and Shirley- along with Rilla's sweetheart Ken Ford, and playmates Jerry Meredith and Carl Meredith - end up fighting in Europe. It is interesting to note that Rilla of Ingleside is the only Canadian novel written from a women's perspective about the First World War by a contemporary.

Maria Nastasia a dat nota:

Despite what others have said, I enjoyed this novel! Was it a tad bit tedious at times? Yes, but I still loved reading about our Anne. I do wish that there was more of Gilbert in the novel, however the rest of the series is all about their lives together, so I don't begrudge Anne's adventures in this one at all. I have no idea why some people said that she 'meddled' in other people's affairs. It was simply her compassionate and humorous heart that compelled her to help and advise her 'kindred spirits'. There were some funny stories in here, and it was simply lovely to spend time with Anne. I did miss all of Anne's old friends like Diana and all the rest of the people at Avonlea, but I think that the reason Montgomery didn't include all those people was to show that Anne had grown up. And although she will forever be friends with the people from her childhood, she is also constantly making new friends and meeting kindred spirits. Overall, although this was a bit slow, I'm glad that I read it. Now onto book 5!

Notă biografică

Lucy Maud Montgomery OBE (November 30, 1874 - April 24, 1942), published as L. M. Montgomery, was a Canadian author best known for a series of novels beginning in 1908 with Anne of Green Gables. The book was an immediate success. Anne Shirley, an orphaned girl, made Montgomery famous in her lifetime and gave her an international following.[1] The first novel was followed by a series of sequels with Anne as the central character. Montgomery went on to publish 20 novels as well as 530 short stories, 500 poems, and 30 essays. Most of the novels were set in Prince Edward Island, and locations within Canada's smallest province became a literary landmark and popular tourist site - namely Green Gables farm, the genesis of Prince Edward Island National Park. She was made an officer of the Order of the British Empire in 1935. Montgomery's work, diaries and letters have been read and studied by scholars and readers worldwide
