Social Work and the Transformation of Adult Social Care: Perpetuating a Distorted Vision?
Autor Mark Lymbery, Karen Postleen Limba Engleză Paperback – 14 apr 2015
Reforms as well as cuts in services and finances are part of the everyday fabric of the social work landscape. Taking a critical approach to the transformation agenda in social work, this book outlines the implications of these changes for adult health and social care. Fully informed by theory, research, policy, and legislation, it takes a problem-based learning approach through the application of case studies, explaining and exploring the overlapping roles of social care and social policy. The authors argue for the continued significance and importance of social work within the context of adult social care: social work, they show, can make a vital difference in the lives and experiences of many of those who are perceived to be the most vulnerable people in society. It is essential reading for students, educators, and practitioners of social work and social policy, and health and social care.

Recenzii
“Lymbery and Postle’s book is a valuable contribution to the growing body of critical literature on austerity-driven personalization and a reminder of the importance of good social work. It deserves to be widely read.”
“Confronted by the spectre of a hollowed-out social work, Lymbery and Postle interrogate the rhetoric and promises of community care and personalisation. Their response is both insightful and authentic.”
“A timely critique of adult social work services that are in crisis and under attack. Providing up-to-date knowledge, it is a must for today’s students.”
“Social Work and the Transformation of Adult Services must be recommended reading for social workers and students interested in working in the field of adult social care, or indeed anyone who is interested in the contemporary history of adult social care in the United Kingdom.”
