Uncle Wiggily's Travels

Autor Howard R. Garis
en Limba Engleză Paperback – 6 sep 2018
Uncle Wiggily Longears is the central character in a series of nearly 18,000 children's stories, all written by Howard R. Garis, beginning in 1910. The stories began as a serial in the Newark News, with a new story appearing six days a week for thirty-seven years. The elderly rabbit gentleman relies on a red, white, and blue, barber-shop pole, walking stick due to his rheumatism. He lives with a muskrat house-keeper named Nurse Jane Fuzzy Wuzzy and frequently gets into adventures with his other animal friends. The character also spawned picture books, comic books, toys, board games and many other collectibles. Unfortunately, most of the books have been out of print for many years. Starry Night Publishing has opted to begin reprinting some of the Uncle Wiggily stories, to share them with future generations. This is the second book in the series, complete with all thirty-one original stories.

Notă biografică

Howard Roger Garis (1873 - 1962) was an American author, best known for a series of books, most books he published under his own name but in Baseball Joe he published under Lester Chadwick, that featured the character of Uncle Wiggily Longears, an engaging elderly rabbit. Garis and his wife were possibly the most prolific children's authors of the early 20th century. Many of his books were illustrated by Lansing Campbell. Garis was born in Binghamton, New York. He and his spouse Lilian Garis both worked as reporters for the Newark Evening News. He did some work on the side for WNJR also in Newark.
