This book explores the historical, current and future prospects of women’s entrepreneurial activities in the former Yugoslavia, a region that is currently in a process of transition from socialism to a free-market economy. Each chapter presents the past, present and future of female entrepreneurship for each individual country. Some of the questions that the book answers include: Have women been historically and culturally ignored, marginalized, or systematically forbidden to run their own businesses? What are the status quo and future prospects for this group? And, is the investment climate conducive to women-owned businesses?
The book provides an extensive overview of female entrepreneurship, its promotion and development, the role of the state, and other key factors that shape the female entrepreneurship ecosystem. Readers will gain an overall perspective on the essential issues and challenges to women’s entrepreneurship, entrepreneurial initiatives and innovation,policy structures and institutional support to female entrepreneurship in the region.

Notă biografică

Ramo Palalić is the Coordinator of the Leadership and Entrepreneurship Centre at the International University of Sarajevo. Dr. Palalić’s research interests are entrepreneurship, leadership, marketing, small and family business management. As an Assistant Professor, Dr. Palalić teaches at all three study cycles in the above areas. Apart from this, he is actively involved in business projects in the areas of entrepreneurial leadership and marketing management, in private and public organizations. He has authored and co-authored many articles in reputable international journals, several books, and many book chapters. Additionally, he is serving a few journals as a reviewer/editorial board member.
Emil Knezović is an Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of Economics and Management at the International University of Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. His research interests include human resource management, entrepreneurship, and small business management.He has been a team member in several institutional and international projects. During his academic career, he published several articles in peer-reviewed international and national journals.

Léo-Paul Dana earned BA and MBA degrees at McGill University and a PhD from HEC-Montreal. He is Professor of Entrepreneurship at Montpellier Business School and a member of the Entrepreneurship & Innovation chair of LabEx Entrepreneurship (University of Montpellier, France). He formerly served as Visiting Professor of Entrepreneurship at INSEAD and Deputy Director of the International Business MBA program at Nanyang Business School. He has published extensively in a variety of leading journals including the British Food Journal, Cornell Quarterly, Entrepreneurship and Regional Development, Entrepreneurship: Theory and Practice, Journal of Small Business Management, Journal of World Business, and Small Business Economics. His research interests focus on cultural issues, including the internationalization of entrepreneurship.
