This handbook contains drug doses for children with normal and reduced kidney function. For easy comparability, all doses for patients with renal failure are given for a glomerular filtration rate (GFR) of 40 and 10 ml / min / 1,73 m² as well as for anuric patients. Reduced doses are calculated as percent of the normal dose, divided into the respective number of single doses (SD).The book also contains data on the immature renal function of premature infants and neonates, which results in different pharmacokinetics of all substances that are eliminated by the kidney. This may be particularly useful in those cases where the use of drugs for which pharmacokinetic studies in infants do not exist may be life saving.For easy reference, all substances are sorted alphabetically according to substance classes. General informations concerning all substances of a specific class are given in the headline of this class, indicated by "@". Important substance-specific side effects or general remarks are listed in a separate column.Diagnostic and therapeutic guidelines for the most common renal diseases as well as for the care of children after renal transplantation were included as overviews in separate chapters.The 2 nd edition was revised completely and updated, incorporating new substances and current guidelines.
