Tao Te Ching

Autor Lao-Tzu Traducere de D. C. Lau
en Limba Engleză Paperback – 25 iun 2003
'Have little thought of self and as few desires as possible'

Whether or not Lao Tzu was a historical figure is uncertain, but the wisdom gathered under his name in the fourth century BC is central to the understanding and practice of Taoism. One of the three great religions of China, Taoism is based upon a concept of the Tao, or Way, as the universal power through which all life flows. TheTao Te Chingoffers a practical model by which both the individual and society can embody this belief, encouraging modesty and self-restraint as the true path to a harmonious and balanced existence.

Translated with an Introduction by D. C. Lau

Recenzii

This crystalline translation of the Tao Te Ching is accurate down to the nuance and as concisely poetic as the original. It preserves the quirks and flavors of the original text. The translators hearkened to the message of the book itself, and kept it clear and gently strong. Of the many translations I have read in English, this is unquestionably the best. --Gary Snyder, University of California at Davis
This edition combines an earthy--as opposed to esoteric--translation with a welcome entre into the Chinese text for those who do not know that language. The gorgeous ink paintings add beauty to the edition. I can't imagine a better way to present this text, and I can't imagine ever using a different edition. --Greg Salyer, Huntingdon College
This is by far the best translation on the market today, and I have been praising it to whoever would listen. --Livia Kohn, Boston University

A Timeless Philosophy on Personal Success

One of the true classics of international literature, the Tao Te Ching is still a source of inspiration and guidance for millions. The oldest scripture of Taoism, its focus on attunement, rather than mindless striving, offers an alternative to commence-and-control leadership and a different way to seeing and achieving personal success.

This keepsake edition includes and introduction by Tom Butler-Bowdon, drawing out lessons for the contemporary reader, showing how the Tao Te Ching remains vital reading for anyone seeking to win without conflict, and to achieve a balanced and productive life.
