Cell & Molecular Biology of Prostate Cancer: Updates, Insights and New Frontiers: Advances in Experimental Medicine and Biology, cartea 1095

Editat de Heide Schatten
en Limba Engleză Hardback – 27 sep 2018
This volume covers classic and modern cell and molecular biology of prostate cancer, as well as  novel biomarkers, inflammation, centrosome pathologies, microRNAs, cancer initiation novel biomarkers, inflammation, centrosome pathologies, microRNAs, cancer initiation and genetics, epigenetics, mitochondrial dysfunctions and apoptosis, cancer stem cells, angiogenesis  and progression to metastasis, and treatment strategies including clinical trials related to prostate cancer. Cell & Molecular Biology of Prostate Cancer is one of two companion books comprehensively addressing the biology and clinical aspects of prostate cancer. Prostate Cancer: Molecular & Diagnostic Imaging and Treatment Stategies, the companion volume, discusses both classic and the most recent imaging approaches including analysis of needle biopsies, applications of nanoparticle probes and peptide-based radiopharmaceuticals for detection, early diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer. Taken together, these volumes form one comprehensive and invaluable contribution to the literature.

Recenzii

“This is a useful reference for the intended audience. It covers a wide range of topics related to the cell and molecular biology of prostate cancer and it pays special attention to the therapeutic importance of the discoveries that have been made in the field.” (Matthew Schiewer, Doody's Book Reviews, January, 18, 2019)

Notă biografică

Dr. Heide Schatten is a cell and molecular biologist at University of Missouri-Columbia. She specializes in reproduction and cancers of the reproductive systems. She has been involved as scientist adviser to advocates of Cancer Foundations and as a reviewer and study section leader of several Foundations and she has been a reviewer for the DOD prostate cancer program. She has had Cancer Research support and interacted with a large number of well known prostate cancer researchers including many from NIH Comprehensive Cancer Centers.  Her publication record shows over 220 original publications, many of which are focused on cell cycle and cytoskeletal abnormalities that are hallmarks for prostate cancer.  She has edited several previous books including (2013) Cell and Molecular Biology of Breast Cancer which has over 19,000 downloads.

Caracteristici

Highlights recent advances in genetics, epigenetics, and cell and molecular biology of prostate cancer that have not been covered in books on the market so far Cutting edge new information is balanced with background information readily understandable for the newcomer and the experienced prostate cancer researcher alike Unique approach fills a gap in the literature; there are currently no recent comparable and competitive books of this sort
