Some of them have a secret weapon: Jiu Jitsu. As the suffragettes welcome Lettice to the fight back, things at home go from bad to worse. The Unstoppable Letty Pegg is a wonderfully readable and enjoyable story, exploring a fascinating period of history.
This book is packed with tiny details of life for an ordinary girl at that time.... The plot not only deals with the right to vote for women but also racism, class and the ordinary struggles of friendship.
With Jiu-Jitsu, Suffragettes, roller skates and a hilariously funny Nativity scene this is a superb read exploring the struggle for Women's Rights and the perceptions of race and class in the early 1900s.
PRAISE FOR BLACKBEARD'S TREASUREThis is children's fiction at its best ... Perfect for fans of Jacqueline Wilson.
PRAISE FOR BILLIE SWIFT TAKES FLIGHTIt is brimming with historical detail and really highlights the heroic nature of some very inspirational women. It would be an excellent class story that would provide children with a tale about a thrilling war-time adventure.
